Q: Is FundED suitable for my school?
A: The FundED approach recognises the increasing challenges faced by schools across New Zealand and aims to provide strategies all school communities can use when raising funds for major events, large scale resourcing, school sporting activities/camps etc.
The three core benefits, applicable to all schools, are:
- Helping schools to understand what funding opportunities are out there.
- Enabling schools to save time and stay focused during the fund raising process.
- Helping schools to provide aligned and appropriate information in funding applications and during potential funding source approaches, to significantly increase the chances of success.
Q: Will I get access to a database to help with funding application searches?
A: The Funding HQ database has over 1,200 funders that can be filtered by region and sector, including over 400 specifically related to education and training. The database is updated regularly and is designed to be both informative and easy to use.

Q: How long does my FundED membership last for?
A: 12 months.
Q: Will the platform content be accessible to board members and parent support groups?
A: At Funding HQ we believe fundraising should be a team effort – both our materials and approach encourage engaging with boards and parent support groups to maximise the impact of fundraising strategies. Each membership covers up to three platform user logins which you can allocate in the way that best works for you.
Q: Does the FundED programme lead to a long term strategic solution to our fundraising planning?
A: Yes, the FundED programme can lead to a long-term strategic solution to fundraising planning, provided it is implemented effectively and its principles are embedded into the school’s ongoing practices.
The programme offers structured guidance, tools, and support opportunities to develop sustainable fundraising strategies. By helping schools identify diverse income streams, engage stakeholders, and align fundraising goals with the school’s overall strategic plan, FundED goes beyond short-term fixes. It emphasises capacity building, including training staff and governors, improving communication strategies, and setting up systems to support long-term giving, grants, and community partnerships.
However, its long-term impact will depend on:
- Leadership commitment to embedding fundraising into school culture.
- Ongoing evaluation and adaptation of strategies developed through the programme.
- Integration of fundraising planning into broader school improvement plans.
